Requirements

To aid in germination, rub seed with nail file. Sow in average soil in full sun to part shade after danger of frost. Sow about 12" apart and cover with 1/2" of fine soil. Firm lightly and keep evenly moist. Seedlings emerge in 10-14 days. Fro more blooms, do not over fertilize. Blooms in spring and summer.

Seed Saving

Let the seedpods dry on the plant. When they're approaching a dark brown color, remove them and save the seeds for planting in the following season.

Additional Info

Dazzling, 2.5" scarlet blooms against deep purplish green foliage on compact plants. Great for beds and containers. Both flowers and foliage is edible!
