Requirements

Start indoors in a warm, well-lit area 4-5 weeks before planting outdoors. Sow into individual containers fills with seed starting formula. Barely press in; keep evenly moist. Seedlings emerge in 8-10 days. Before transplanting, move to a sheltered area outside for a week. Blooms in summer.

Seed Saving

Seeds can be found in the flower heads, between the velvety flowers. Once the blooms dry out, cut them off and hang upside down in bunches. When the seed head is completely dry and crisp, lightly crush them in your hands and the seeds will fall out.

Each plant produced on king-sized coral-pink velvety flower head, up to a foot in diameter.
