About the Event
You have the space for a pollinator friendly garden. You have dreamt of transforming part of your small yard into a sanctuary for nature. You have done some research about where to start but it is overwhelming. In this workshop, the permaculture designers at StellaLou farm will lead a discussion based presentation on designing to meet the human needs and natural needs of a pollinator garden space. This will be followed by a full tour of StellaLou’s different permaculture plantings, which will include our honey hedge, wildlife corridor, chicken food forests, orchard, and dry creek. These show a variety of area sizes, additional goals for spaces, and processes undergone to achieve their current form. We will help you find a tangible way forward in your own design.
In small groups, participants will have a garden takeover of unplanted parts of the food forest. A choice of plants and tools will be provided. With access to two certified permaculture designers, the groups will assess their area, make goals for it, design it, and plant it.
Each participant will leave with a set of young native pollinator plants.
